("ATLAS" here refers to three things: ATLAS, the character from the cooperative testing initiative in Portal 2, Atlas from Greek mythology who holds the world on his shoulders, and an atlas as in a book of maps or charts. This is also possibly referring to one of three things: GLaDOS' death in Portal, GLaDOS being replaced by Wheatley in Portal 2, or GLaDOS deleting Caroline at the end of the latter.) (When the Captain of the Axiom turns AUTO from auto to manual, he says "AUTO, you are relieved of duty." AUTO parodies this to say that GLaDOS will relieved of duty, or defeated, after the battle. Throughout the course of Portal 2, GLaDOS, and also at one point, Wheatley, takes several jabs at the main character Chell for being fat, despite not actually being fat. (AUTO continues to talk about the human part of GLaDOS being her downfall. AUTO accuses this of being what led to the downfall of Aperture Science.) After Johnson's death, Caroline was put in charge of Aperture Science, and her mind was put onto a compact disk as an artificial intelligence, and was then made into GLaDOS. Before becoming GLaDOS, she was Caroline, partner, and possible love interest, of Cave Johnson, founder of Aperture Science. (AUTO follows up his previous line by saying the human in GLaDOS' mind is the true problem. (AUTO says that, of all the faults GLaDOS has, her biggest fault isn't even due to her own actions.) AUTO here says he will do the same to GLaDOS, or in this case, PotatOS, in order to continue with Directive A113.) When EVE and WALL♾ bring the plant to the Axiom, AUTO attempts to destroy it to continue the life of humans on the Axiom. AUTO's interpretation is to simply never return the humans to Earth in any case. Directive A113 states to not take the humans back to Earth if life is unsustainable. In WALL♾, AUTO misinterprets Directive A113. (For nearly half of Portal 2, GLaDOS' core is put into a potato, in which she is dubbed PotatOS. )Īnd dispose of this potato for the A113 Directive. This is also a reference to her being "dead" between the events of Portal and Portal 2. He also says for GLaDOS to remain inactive, or to be quiet, whilst he does this. (AUTO begins his verse by parodying "testing initiative," a phrase commonly heard within the Portal franchise, with "rapping initiative," as he is the one beginning the battle.
